Teams can also grow in their leadership. Greater insight into the team's qualities, needs, desires, and limitations leads to decisions and choices that are more appropriate. The team consciously builds on itself and its environment to achieve its (possibly adjusted) intended objectives more comfortably and quickly. The result is that circumstances improve, the team experiences more control and autonomy, and simultaneously grows in adaptability.
During team coaching, the team's desires, challenges, and the shared journey of discovery are central.
We work with what presents itself in the moment—with what requires attention at that moment, both individually and within the team. Team coaching therefore touches both the personal and individual leadership of each team member and the collective leadership of the team as a whole.
During team coaching, we are also outdoors more often than indoors—nature invites us to slow down, be still, and see with fresh eyes. As a team coach, I guide teams to grow in effectiveness, connection, and trust, based on their own context and strengths. We start by exploring questions such as:
Where do we want to grow?
What can we rely on and trust?
What do we need to grow?
What limitations and opportunities do we experience?
What context supports our development?
Based on these insights, we work towards a team that stands strong, supports each other, and adapts resiliently within a changing environment.

For me, each team member is like a tree in a forest — unique, with its own shape and direction of growth. No tree grows perfectly straight or without obstacles. Some trees grow at an angle, are struck by storm or lightning, become entangled with others, or fall. And every tree has a valuable place within the whole. Together, they form a living ecosystem in which every contribution matters.
The soil in which the forest grows — the context — determines which trees are able to take root and flourish. The same applies to teams: context plays a crucial role, including the organisation, its culture, and the time in which the team operates.
While a forest adapts naturally to change, a team has the opportunity to consciously influence the direction of its growth. That influence is not unlimited, but it is powerful when a team — and each team member — is aware of what is present and what is needed.
Personal leadership within teams plays a crucial role. It refers to the capacity of each unique individual to take responsibility for their behaviour, development and contribution to the team. When a team member applies this leadership in service of the team or the organisation, we speak of individual leadership. This strengthens team dynamics, effectiveness and performance.
